Coronavirus

Protecting your health and wellbeing

Tamar is monitoring developments in the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) across the UK. We are reviewing our protocols and responding appropriately to protect the health of those we work with.

We are working closely with health authorities and care regulators and following their advice, including:

  • Asking our carers to wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

  • Washing their hands when they get to each client’s property and when they get home

  • Using hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

  • Covering any coughs or sneezes with a tissue which they then dispose of or sneezing into the bend of their elbow then washing their hands

  • Avoiding close contact with persons who have respiratory illness symptoms, including following the NHS’s advice (see link below)

  • Avoiding touching their eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands

  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces

  • Staying at home if they feel unwell and contacting the 111 Coronavirus helpline (valid in all countries of the UK)

  • Risk assessing each individual client to ensure we are well prepared to support them

  • Monitoring the health of our clients and asking them to inform us of any symptoms

  • If any member of staff has a confirmed diagnosis of Coronavirus we will prepare a list of all clients and staff the person has been in contact with for at least the preceding 14 days and report this to the 111 Coronavirus helpline
